Company

Benott was founded in 2007 by two brothers, József and István Kozma, in London. The brothers initially offered wood floor sanding, finishing and fitting services. Two years later, they opened a showroom in London, offering a curated selection of products. They started experimenting by producing their own products and finishes after having difficulty finding reliable suppliers and products that suited their needs.

The Beginnings

Benott’s first self-developed floors were made on a farm in a stable in Uxbridge near London, that served as the company’s warehouse. There was a great demand for premium quality, custom-made wood coverings. In 2015, orders had already been received from all over England, and from 2017, orders were being received internationally.

In 2019, the founders decided to move home and move the company to Hungary. They bought a sawmill in the Austrian-Croatian border town of Dobri. The mill is located in the heart of Zala county, which is rich in forests, where the famous Slavonian Oak can be found. This move opened another chapter in the history of Benott, as the mill made it possible to become completely self-sufficient, from cutting the logs, drying the timber to the finished product.
